Technology and Governance Network (TGN)
We are a group of academics and practitioners interested in exploring the impact of information technologies on the emancipation of human beings.
To this end we continuously challenge existing assumptions and practices that aim to empower people. Whilst we value them we always adopt a critically constructive stance. To us this is an alternative form of governance which could inspire further developments.
To date our work has been in areas involving the use of technologies in education, government and business sustainability.
The network continues to build on the achievements of the E-government and Local Integration with Sustainability (ELIS) group initially set up at the University of Hull set up in 2004.
At Royal Holloway, University of London, we also contribute to the activities of other research groups.
Our ethics is about promoting inclusiveness, participation and joined up thinking, as well as collaborations of mutual benefit for academia and industry.
